Redlands create
Creative arts program
Artists have engaged with hundreds of residents from across the Redlands in a creative exploration of their visions, values and views through the Stories of the Redlands creative program. Through nine very different community-based projects, the program has highlighted the importance to residents of their heritage and sense of place and identity, and of communities working together and sharing their ideas and culture. Focused on the heart and soul dimension of local life and gathering research data in the form of locally-made artworks, Council supported the program to engage residents creatively in Redlands 2030 as well as contribute to local cultural development.
Red Land Blue
Red Land Blue was composed collectively by participants at the Songtrails workshop on 27 July at RPAC. Part of the ‘Stories of the Redlands’ creative arts program, Songtrails was produced in partnership with the Queensland Music Festival. The song was performed at a concert at the Brisbane Powerhouse on 3 August by the four professional musicians who worked with Redlands songwriters to create it.

Red Land Blue
As I walked down to the water
There’s a beacon by the bay
Shining in the moonlight
Where the dugong come to play.
Moreton breeze is calling me back home.
Red land blue,
Hidden treasures indulge my senses,
Embrace my soul
As you do, red land blue
As I look upon the mountains
Crowned all green with trees
I see their mystic beauty
So rich with histories.
Moreton breeze is calling me back home
Red land blue,
Hidden treasures indulge my senses,
Embrace my soul
As you do, red land blue
I taste the earthy freshness,
Smell the sweet bay air,
Swirling all around me
Taking me back there
Moreton breeze is calling me back home
Redland blue,
Hidden treasures indulge my senses,
Embrace my soul
As you do, red land blue
I hear the songs of people
That share a common dream
They dance across the landscape
Like bubbles in a stream
Moreton breeze is calling me back home
Red land blue,
Hidden treasures indulge my senses,
Embrace my soul
As you do, red land blue
Moreton breeze I’m coming home……..
