Redlands 2030 overview

Your community plan is taking shape

Over the past year, Redland City Council has undertaken one of the most comprehensive community engagement programs in the city’s history, to help create a new community plan.

The plan will set the vision for the Redlands for the next 20 years and the direction for Council’s own corporate planning process.

Community members had input into the new vision through a series of workshops, speak-outs, submissions, surveys, youth activities, interest group meetings and a creative arts program.

The Redlands 2030 Community Reference Group and Community Feedback Network, representing the Redlands demographically, have also been actively involved in analysing and validating the wealth of information received through the visioning processes.

Responses from all events have now been collated. Outcome areas and a vision statement have now emerged, which form the basis of the Redlands 2030 Consultation Draft.

Response to the Consultation Draft plan was gathered through further community consultation activities in October and presented back to the community at the Redlands 2030 Summit on 7 November 2009.

Mayor Melva Hobson

Thanks

Mayor Melva Hobson thanked the community for its input to date into the process.

“For a community plan to be of value, it needs to represent the views of the community,” Cr Hobson said.

“Here in the Redlands, we have a community that truly cares about its city and where it’s headed, and I thank our residents, workers, community groups and business owners who have shared their views on what they love about the Redlands and what they would like the Redlands to be like in 20 years.

“Through rich community engagement, priorities have emerged which will now form the basis of the community plan, and help direct how Council plans for the future.”
